- Japheth Mutinda, 22, accuses police officers of assaulting him injuring his private parts and back.
- He calls upon IPOA to investigate the matter.
Japheth Mutinda, 22, boarded a bodaboda to go back home after agreeing to pay KSh50.
Upon reaching his destination, the bodaboda operator reportedly breached their agreement and demanded KSh100 instead.
Mutinda, speaking to TV47 Digital, says that the bodaboda operator started assaulting him because he could not pay the KSh100 he was demanding. “He called the Assistant Chief to arrest me after beating me up,” he says.
“Ngungani police officers arrested me at home and ordered me to provide the knife I had used to threaten the operator. I had not used a knife to threaten the bodaboda rider,” he added.
Upon reaching the police station, Mutinda alleges that police officers forced him to strip naked before beating him to a pulp. He sustained injuries on his private parts and his back.
He is currently receiving treatment at Mwingi Level IV hospital. He calls upon the Independent Policing Authority (IPOA) to investigate and take stern action against the officers who allegedly beat him.
Attempts by TV47 to reach the area OCPD bore no fruits as calls went unanswered.
