Shock and grief engulfed a village in Siaya County on Wednesday afternoon after a 25-year-old man allegedly committed suicide after losing KSh1,000 belonging to his boss.
George Owich Ochieng is said to have lost the KSh1,000 note on his way to buy diesel meant for a posho mill.
Upon realizing that he had lost the cash, Ochieng reportedly called the owner of the poshomill to inform him of the unfortunate event.
The owner reportedly told him to come and explain the situation in person. Ochieng is said to have panicked and rode his motorbike to his father’s house, where he allegedly took his life.
Ulamba sub-Location assistant chief Pauline Apondi Okumu, confirming the incident, said that Ochieng’s body was found hanging from the roof of a house that was locked from inside.
The body has been removed to Rabuor Community Hospital mortuary.
