Six suspects have pleaded not guilty to murder charges of four women in Marani sub-County, Kisii County.
Amos Nyakundi, Chrispine Ogeto, Peter Angwenyi, Brian Mecha, Ronald Ombati and Jostine Morara were arraigned before High Court Judge Rose Ougo on Friday.
They were accused of killing Sindege Mayaka, Agnes Ototo, Jemimah Nyangate Okware and Rael Sigara in Marani sub-County, Kisii County.
Drama was witnessed during the proceedings when Chrispine Ogeto, 17, one of the suspects fainted after Justice Ougo finished reading the charges.
Suspect Faints in Court
Shaffin Kaba, a High Court advocate told the court his client always develops such problems and only recovers once his pastor lays a hand on him and prays for him.
The judge ordered everyone to get out as she also went to her chambers and the pastor who was on standby took over the stage and started praying aloud as he cast out the demons.
After a standstill of about 15 minutes, the proceedings were moved to the next room.
Prosecution counsel Hilary Kaino in his submission pleaded to have the six suspects denied bond due to the gravity of the matter and their security.
