A 65-year-old man has perished as a result of a bee attack at his home in Kotunga village, Kajulu area in Kisumu East Sub County.
Eyewitnesses reveal the deceased was responding to his 85-year-old father’s distress call on Friday.
He found his father being attacked by the domesticated swarm of bees.
In a frantic attempt to save his defenseless father, the deceased is said to have tried to fight off the wild bees while covering his father with a blanket. Sadly, the wild swarm turned on him stinging him to death.
The 85-year-old man was lucky to survive although he sustained serious injuries.
What sparked the attack from the angry bees?
An intense noise from a rumbling lorry ferrying sand allegedly incensed the insects that are hived in the homestead, triggering the attack.
Kajulu West location Chief Tobias Omollo confirmed the incident, saying that attempts by the public to ward off the marauding bees proved futile as the deceased had already succumbed to injuries.
The elderly man is receiving treatment at Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Teaching and Referral Hospital.
