What started as an ordinary adventure-fueled Sunday evening at a nearby Chepkulo River’s Kimaya Waterfall ended tragically after a Bomet University College student drowned.

In a bid to capture the most magic and intricate photos, the 24-year-old second year student is said to have moved to a deeper point of the waterfall.

Chepalungu sub-County Police Commander Nelson Masai, confirming the incident, said that the male student may have underestimated the depth of the waterfall, unfortunately, he slipped and swept away by the raging waves.

A two-hour search of the body conducted by divers from Bomet County, helped by local drivers, was unsuccessful.

The exercise to locate the body, Gideon Ngotwa- one of the county divers says, continues today.

Preliminary investigations into the incident have revealed that the student was in the company of twelve other friends.

Police are still trying to identify the students who accompanied the deceased, so that they can give their statements.
