Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) officials in Emuhaya, Vihiga County showed an act of kindness after buying a wheelchair for physically challenged woman who appeared for voter registration exercise on a wheelbarrow.
Selifa Opanda, who is reported to have acquired her National ID this year, and had asked her family to taken to her to a voter registration center last Monday.
According to Emuhaya Deputy Registration Officer Edith Mahonga, Selifa was brought to the Ilungu Primary School registration center on a wheelbarrow, pushed by a young man identified as her uncle.
Seeing her struggles, the IEBC registration clerks at the station decided to team up and buy her a wheelchair.
The officials took a photo of Selifa on her wheelbarrow and shared it with their colleagues on a WhatsApp group.
Within a short period of time, enough cash had been raised to buy her a wheelchair and groceries for her homestead.
