- FORD-Kenya declares Senator Moses Wetangula as its presidential candidate.
- In attendance were One Kenya Alliance principals Kalonzo Musyoka and Gideon Moi.
FORD-Kenya has unveiled its party leader Senator Moses Wetangula as their presidential candidate.
This was during a delegates conference held on Thursday at Bomas Hotel, after claims it had been cancelled.
In his acceptance speech, Wetangula said he could not separate the One Kenya Alliance (OKA) from his plans. Forming the next government will be a team effort with co-principals Kalonzo Musyoka (WDM), Gideon Moi (KANU) and Musalia Mudavadi (ANC), he said.
“Kalonzo Musyoka has been a friend of mine since 1985. Gideon’s father took me from a law firm and made me an MP. Musalia has walked with me from the day I was nominated into parliament. When you have friends like this what would you be afraid of?” the Bungoma Senator posed.
While taking pride in the longevity of FORD-Kenya, Wetangula opined that to walk the newly-unveiled journey, he needed the support and teamwork from other parties.
“We will leave no chance in joining other parties of goodwill for the good of this country. There is no single leader that can walk the journey of leadership alone,” the OKA principal added.
As he brushed through key matters his leadership would focus on, Wetangula emphasised on bringing equality through devolution. He pinpointed sectors such as education, infrastructure, and health.
