CJ Koome extends deadline for application of judiciary jobs

In Summary

  • The call for applications was made by the Judicial Service Commission on October 8.
  • CJ Koome says system congestion prompted the extension of the application deadline.

Chief Justice Martha Koome has extended the deadline for application of various jobs in the Judiciary.

In a statement released today, Koome says the extension is meant to allow potential candidates who were not able to access the application portal due to high traffic and congestion, to apply.

Over 60,000 applications have been received for the slightly over 500 vacant positions. On October 8 this year, the Judicial Service Commission had advertised 500 vacancies for Court Assistants, one for Senior Public Affairs & Corporate Communications Officer (JSC Secretariat), two for Senior Law Clerks, six for Law Clerks, 30 for drivers, one for Risk Management Officer, and one for Senior Architect.

The other judiciary jobs that JSC had advertised are for positions of one Senior Civil Engineer, one Senior Mechanical Engineer, one Senior Electrical Engineer, four Senior Quantity Surveyors, for Superintendent of Works, one Senior Draughtsman and 10 Charge Hand in the Judiciary.

The deadline for submitting applications was October 29. “The Commission has resolved to extend the application window to mitigate against these challenges and to give every Kenyan a fair opportunity to be considered for these positions,” said CJ Koome.
The application portal will re-open on Monday, November 8, 2021 and will close at 5pm on Friday, November 12. “Those who submitted their applications before the original deadline should not re-apply,” says Koome.

She adds that the recruitment “will be undertaken in accordance with the principles and processes in the Constitution and the Judicial Service Act.”
