Naivasha bodaboda operator allegedly kills passenger over KSh70 fare

Police in Naivasha are searching for a bodaboda operator suspected of killing a pillion passenger on Sunday evening.

The bodaboda operator is accused of beating to death the 32-year-old who works as a casual labourer after a disagreement over KSh70 fare.

Confirming the incident, Naivasha OCPD Samuel Waweru said the crime happened in Kayole estate, promising to arrest the suspect and bring him to book.

On the fateful day, the deceased was enjoying himself at a local bar located on the Nairobi-Nakuru Highway. At around 9 pm, he asked the rider to take him home.

An eyewitness told the Standard that upon arriving at his home, the deceased could not remember his M-Pesa pin, leading to a confrontation with the operator.

“In the process, the operator decided to take the drunk passenger to the Karai Police Post, but they disagreed further, leading to a fight,” he said.

The operator reportedly left the deceased unconscious. His body was found on Monday morning by his kin.
