Burglars steal paint at Vihiga church, defecate in pastor’s office

In Summary

  • The vandals left two cigarettes and a tiny spotlight on the floor.
  • It is the latest in a string of bizarre burglaries targeting churches in Western Kenya.

P olice in Vihiga are investigating an incident in which burglars broke into a local church and defecated inside the pastor’s office.

The incident happened at Mumbita Church of God in Luanda on Sunday night. Over 40 litres of paint was also stolen in the incident.

“There were also two cigarettes and a tiny spotlight left lying on the floor,” said Ochieng, head of the church’s development.

Interestingly, this is not the first such incident reported in the area. Most of the burglaries targeting churches have been accompanied by desecration with human faeces.

Wemilabi Church of God in Mwibona ward, alongside two others have been targeted this year.

Daring Church Burglars

Last August, ACK St Mark-Emiko Parish lost property worth KSh150,000. Here too, the criminals relieved themselves inside the church.

Joash Owila, the head of church asked the thugs to repent and recant their evil ways.

The Church of God in East Africa whose church was targeted on Sunday night is conducting a cleansing ceremony today to “ward off evil spirits and Mwibona ward,-dedicate Mumbita to God.”
