Embakasi man loses KSh1 million to “light-skins” after drugging

In Summary

  • Tragedy began when “all of a sudden two light skinned ladies stepped into the bar.
  • One of the men staggered home from Rysta’s Guest House in Embakasi, leaving his friend in the company of the two women.

Detectives in Nairobi are holding a woman who allegedly drugged and stole KSh1 million from a man she had met at a pub.

Virginia Wangui Thiga, 30, was arrested in Kasarani yesterday. Police are looking for her accomplice who went into hiding after the incident.

According to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), Wangui and her colleague walked into the entertainment joint in Embakasi where they found their victim enjoying drinks with a friend.

“The men beckoned them to join their table but the beauties were hesitant and appeared not interested in their vibe,” says DCI. “However, after some few minutes they changed their minds, much to the delight of the two men and joined their table.”

The quartet proceeded to tank up alcohol until 4am. Thereafter, they staggered to a room at Rysta’s Guest House. “Once in the room the victim’s colleague developed cold feet and staggered home, leaving his friend in the company of the two ladies.”

DCI reports that the man was offered some pieces of chicken by the two ladies, “before he passed out and found himself at a city hospital, with doctors fighting to save his life.”

He later learnt that the ladies had taken off with his mobile phone, ATM and identity card. “To further exacerbate his woes, he discovered that over KSh1 Million had been withdrawn from his mobile and bank accounts!”

When he recovered, he reported the matter at the Serious Crimes Unit of DCI, prompting a manhunt for the two ladies.

Wangui will be arraigned in court to answer to charges of stealing.

He got word that the ladies had run off with his ATM card, identity card and his mobile. To worsen the man’s misery, he found out that over KSh 1 million had been withdrawn from his mobile and bank accounts.

Once recovered, the victim went and appealed to crime detectives to launch a manhunt for the two ladies who had not only robbed him but also almost killed him with the overdose of the numbing substance.

The investigators profiled one of the suspects identified as and arrested her in Kasarani, Nairobi county.

She is to be arraigned in court Tuesday, November 11 to answer to charges of stealing.
