Meru Bishop who “walked 300km” to meet DP Ruto delivers ‘prophesy’

In Summary

  • UDA publicist Dennis Itumbi says tears flowed freely at the meeting.
  • Bishop Peter Machiuka and Pastor Julius Mukalia prayed throughout the journey.

A Meru Bishop who embarked on a 300-kilometre walk from his church in the slopes of Igembe North to “deliver God’s prophecy to Deputy President William Ruto” in Karen eventually arrived yesterday.

Peter Machiuka of Harvest Christian Church set off on the expedition on November 4. The exacting physical task for the 63-year-old was capped by a meeting with the DP at the ‘Hustler’s Mansion.’

Though uncertain while setting off, Bishop Machiuka who was accompanied by Pastor Julius Mukalia, had vowed to camp at Ruto’s gate until he had a chance to deliver the prophecy.

“Today, the Bishop arrived, prayed and moved the room to tears with his story,” said United Democratic Alliance (UDA) publicist Dennis Itumbi.

At the meeting, Bishop Machiuka was flanked by his family, Pastor Julius and several politicians including Meru Senator Mithika Linturi.

The determined duo set off from Kamweline village in Kabachi, Igembe North. They traversed several towns on foot, praying all along the way. Their route took them past Mutuati, Laare, Kangeta, Meru town, Chuka, Embu, Mwea, Kenol, Thika and eventually Karen in Nairobi.

Meru Bishop: Church Constituency

As campaigns for the 2022 general elections pick pace, the DP, who is considered to be the UDA presidential flag-bearer, has attracted a sizeable number of the church constituency.

Yesterday, he also met several artistes in Karen. “We will put in place robust legal regime to protect artists from exploitation to ensure they earn a decent living from their talents,” said the DP.
