Karen residents to DP Ruto: “We are alarmed by the presence of suspicious persons”

In Summary

  • Ruto’s official residence, nicknamed the ‘Hustler’s Mansion’ has seen an influx of visitors.
  • The letter is copied to the Inspector General of Police.

The Karen Residents Association has written to Deputy President William Ruto over a slew of issues related to activities along Karen Road, where the ‘Hustler’s Mansion’ is located.

Through their Chairperson and Secretary James Hirst, the residents pinpoint noise, constant traffic gridlocks (“attributed to entourages entering your official residence”) and muggings.

“The association is highly alarmed by the ever presence of suspicious persons roaming around the area against its rules on loitering,” adds the letter dated November 9, signed and stamped. “We wish to notify you of rampant traffic gridlock as a result of visitors parking on the roadsides and wayleaves awaiting clearance to your residence.”

The letter further notes: “Residents have complained of rising cases of mugging along the route conducted by aliens masquerading as visitors to your residence.”

Ruto’s official residence, nicknamed the ‘Hustler’s Mansion’ has seen an influx of visitors (a motley…from politicians to artistes, youth and church groups) as campaigns hot up ahead of the August 2022 general elections.

DP Ruto is considered one of the frontrunners, running for President on a United Democratic Alliance party ticket.

“We request your office to speeding and conclusively look into (the) above matters, safeguard and restore peace and tranquility in our neighbourhood,” the petition concludes.
