Sports Cabinet Secretary Amina Mohamed has disbanded Football Kenya Federation and appointed a caretaker committee to run local football.

On Thursday, CS Amina received the audit report on FKF from Sports Registrar Rose Wasike which prompted her to act and name the 15-member caretaker committee.

The said committee is to be chaired by retired Justice Aaron Ringera and has been put in charge for a period of six months.

Other members of the committee are General Retired Moses Oyugi, Fatma Adan, Philip Musyimi, Anthony Isayi, Elisha Kiplagat and Hassan Haji. The list also includes Fredrick Tureisa, Mwangi Muthee, Neddy Atieno, Ali Amour, Titus Kasuve, Richard Omwela, Bobby Ogolla and JJ Masiga.

She had earlier failed to appear before the the labour and social welfare committee at the Senate to explain the decision to order for an audit of FKF accounts.

The CS instead sent a letter to speaker Kenneth Lusaka on Tuesday, seeking postponement of the meeting by seven days.

Amina said she hoped that FIFA would “help the government clean up the mess in football” and not ban the country following her intervention.

Harambee Stars is scheduled to play Uganda Cranes in a 2022 World Cup qualifier today from 4:00 pm.
