Sheffield United midfielder John Fleck rushed to hospital after collapsing on the pitch

Sheffield United midfielder John Fleck was stretchered off after collapsing on the pitch in the second half of their Championship game against Reading on November 24.

In what looked a serious incident when Fleck went down with his teammates immediately calling on the medics who took him off on a stretcher and out of the ground to a waiting ambulance.

There was a 10-minute delay as the 30-year-old received medical assistance before beiong rushed to hospital, which is a short distance from the stadium.

Fleck is placed on a stretcher.

Club confirms John Fleck is okay

The club confirmed on that Fleck was conscious at the time of leaving the stadium in a statement.

The Blades were leading the game 1-0 thanks to Jayden Bogle’s 57th minute strike and they managed to hold on for the win after resumption of play with Conor Hourihane coming on for the departed Fleck.

Sheffield United, who were recently relegated from the Premier League, are struggling down in England’s second tier as they currently sit 16th on the league standings.

After the game, the club tweeted, “3 points for the Blades. More importantly, John Fleck was conscious when he left the stadium via the ambulance gate. We’ll provide supporters with a further update once known. Get well soon, John.”
