Veteran journalist Gatonye Gathura, who was strangled to death, will be buried today in Limuru.
Police are still conducting investigations into the mysterious killing of the science and health reporter who had no known enemies.
His body was found dumped near Kihoto estate along the Naivasha-Mai Mahiu road on October 26. He had a cable strapped round his neck.
Booked in at the Naivasha sub-County hospital mortuary as “unidentified male”, it took the counterchecking of his fingerprints with the Registrar of Persons for a positive identification to be made. Police subsequently notified his next of kin.
A postmortem report confirmed that Gatonye died of strangulation. The cable round the neck was identified as that of a laptop charger.

Gatonye’s body has since been transferred to Tigoni Level Four Hospital mortuary in Limuru, Kiambu County.
He wrote for the Nation and Standard newspapers and also run a blog called Rocket Science, whose staple was reproductive health, and mental health.
