It was pomp and colour on Saturday night during this years Borana Night festival at the Bomas of Kenya.
During the event organised by Borana Council of Elders, leaders called on Northern Kenya communities to embrace peace even as the country prepares for the 2022 General Election.
The Borana Council of Elders was also commended for their role in uniting the community and for their efforts in building peace in the region.
Speaking at the ceremony where traditional artifacts, food and music were pexhibited, Eldas MP Aden Keynan and the council’s chairperson Abudulahi Gonjobe all agreed the need for communities in the North to embrace unity even the election approaches.
They urged politicians to embrace consensus come 2022 to avoid unnecessary wrangles in the coming elections.
Isiolo Woman Rep. Rehema Jaldesa also lauded the elders for playing a vital role in uniting the Borana community.
The event whose main agenda was to fundraise for the Borana Elders brought together Governors, MPs and hundreds of revellers.
