Kenya Airways (KQ) will resume its domestic flights tomorrow (Sunday, May 2), following the lifting of the restriction of movement into and out of the five zoned counties. The national career will now fly two times daily to the coastal city of Mombasa, and once daily to the lakeside city of Kisumu. Police in Nairobi are investigating an incident in which a renowned Kenyan actor was caught up in a shooting. According to CCTV footage seen by TV47 Digital, a man believed to be Ainea Ojiambo was having a conversation with a lady outside a shop in Nairobi CBD. Three men then attacked him with an intention of robbing his belongings. In retaliation, Ojiambo, a licensed gun-holder, pulled out his gun and fired in their direction. Dr Stephen Karanja, chairman of the Kenya Catholic Doctors Association (KCDA) has died from Covid-19. He had been receiving treatment at Mater Hospital, Nairobi. “He had been admitted with COVID-19,” Jacinta Mutegi, of the Catholic Health Commission is quoted as saying. “There is no official communication from the association as yet but I can confirm that he died today (April 29).” Dr Karanja made headlines at the beginning of March this year when he released a statement urging Kenyans not to be vaccinated against the disease. The family of Elijah Obuong, one of the four men who went missing in Kitengela about 10 days ago have positively identified his body. Obuong’s family led by his brother Michael Amollo arrived at Murang’a County mortuary at 8.00 am Thursday and confirmed the identity of the body which has been lying there for days. President Uhuru Kenyatta is expected to address the country any time this week on the updated coronavirus containment measures. It’s one month since he announced the zoning of five counties, and review of curfew hours with the intention of stemming the spread of the third coronavirus wave. Government administrators in Murang’a County have embarked on a three-day exercise of distributing Huduma Namba cards to local residents. The county has so far received 56,000 Huduma Namba cards and only 5, 000 of them have been collected.
