World-renowned singer David Adedeji Adeleke alias Davido has raised KSh43.9 million in a span of 24 hours from his fans.
The Nigerian-based artist mobilised his fans through Twitter on Wednesday saying he wanted to pay clearance fees for a new car.
“If u know I’ve given you a hit song .. send me money …. una know una selves oo,” the 27-year-old artist said.
He went on to share a bank account number where his fans would deposit the money. To his surprise, the account garnered KSh1.9 million in less than 10 minutes.
“Omo 7 m in 10 minutes keep goin!! I love y’all! I wan clear my Rolls Royce from port abeg,” an elated Davido said.
He shared screenshots of the account balance every few hours, saying his target was KSh27 million.
By Thursday morning, he had surpassed the mark although remained open to receiving more funds. In his last update, the bank account stood at KSh43,862,332.06.
Artists including Nengi, Perruzi, Teni, Adekunle Gold, Mr Eazi, Zlatan, Cubana Chief Priest, and Chike were among famous artists who also chipped in to the “fundraiser”.
He is also said to have received funds from Akin Alabi, a member of the Oyo State House of Representatives, Emeka Okonkwo aka E-money, and Obinna Iyiegbu aka Obi Cubana, a businessman and socialite.
The renowned artist will turn 28 on November 21, with social media users speculating he purchased the new car to celebrate the occasion.
