Girl, 16, stabbed to death in Bomet after argument over memory card

Police in Bomet County are investigating an incident in which a 16-year-old girl was killed by her female friend after an argument about a phone memory card.

The incident happened at the popular Mulot trading centre on Wednesday.

Reports indicate that the victim was a greengrocer while the assailant is a bar attendant. The assailant allegedly took a knife from the victim’s work area and stabbed her in the chest. She died on the spot.

Bomet West sub-County police boss Francis Kigeri said preliminary investigations have revealed that the two quarrelled over the ownership of a memory card.

“The suspect … was moving to Bomet town. We are lucky to have arrested her immediately with the help of members of the public,” said Kigeri.

The deceased’s body was moved to Longisa County Referral Hospital mortuary as police prepare to charge the suspect in court.
