Police in Cherang’any Constituency, Trans Nzoia County, are investigating an incident where an intersex person was raped before being killed.
The body of the 50-year-old victim was found dumped on the roadside in Kachibora township.
Preliminary investigations have revealed that the victim – who identifies by a female name – left her rental house in California estate at 11am on Wednesday, May 4.
Spotted drunk at 5 pm
Nation reports that she intended to by alcohol at a nearby liquor shop after earning KSh800 from a day of casual labour at a farm.
At around 5 pm, she was spotted drunk along the Kachibora-Kapcherop Road.
“She always comes home at around 7pm and when we did not see her at that time, we assumed maybe she had decided to visit her relatives or friends,” Mr. Birech, a village elder, told Nation.
The lifeless body was discovered half-naked at around 9 pm.
According to officers from Cherangany Police Station and Trans Nzoia East Directorate of Criminal Investigations detectives who visited the scene, they found her lying on the ground face down. Her dress had been pulled up and her underwear pulled down.
Trans Nzoia Police Commander Jacinta Wesonga, confirming the incident, says that investigations have indicated the intersex woman had been raped before being murdered.
The body is lying at Kitale County Referral Hospital mortuary.
